Leisure Day in Cintsa

As we enter our third week on the road, we found ourselves with perhaps the first day of complete leisure. Nothing scheduled and no agenda. Fortunately, we caught the first day with no rain since arriving in Cintsa. We enjoyed an outdoor breakfast at the Village Bistro in Cintsa followed by several hours hanging out at the beach and swimming in the Indian Ocean.

In the early afternoon, we crossed the lagoon which was filling with water as the tide rolled in and walked to the Barefoot Cafe.  The Barefoot Cafe is a very cool spot in Cintsa which serves Emerald Vale on tap.  They offer good bar food and always have either soccer or rugby on the television.  Rugby is quite popular in South Africa.  I still have difficulty seeing it as much more than what we called "kill the man with the ball" growing up in Philly.

Below, Roman and Mabret crossing the lagoon.

As we have been encouraging Roman and Mabret to interact with those they meet while traveling, Mabret asked Steve, the owner of the Barefoot Cafe, to explain the rules of rugby.  From eating lunch there the last 2 days and watching Steve while rugby is on the television, it was obvious that he is a big fan of the game.  Below is a picture of a drawing that Steve made while meticulously detailing the rules to Mabret and Roman.

Thanks to Steve, we actually watched a rugby game this evening and understood what was taking place.

Continuing the theme of interacting with those we meet, Roman and Mabret were joined on the sand dunes by two children who were watching them play.  Very proud of Roman and Mabret who stopped what they were doing to invite the onlookers into their games.

While sitting on the beach watching Mabret and Roman climb, run and swim, we tossed around some of our favorite quotes about travel.  Below is one that we believe to be true.

Big shout out to our brother-in-law, Mike Zodda, who completed the Philly Marathon today in 3:04.  Wow!  Way to go, Uncle Mike.

A long drive awaits us tomorrow.  Significant portions on uneven gravel roads.  Bently is up to the task. Not sure about Kathy.

Peace Out.
